Reset

Reset Ok, so I’ve decided to get back into doing comics. Bare with me as I journey back down this way, since it’s been close to a decade since I’ve drawn anything from scratch. This probably explains why my first attempt in years is nothing but a simple black outline toon strip, lol!

I’ve been a tech guy for over 15 years. I’ve been the family wiz-kid with computers, I’ve been tech support at multiple companies and I’ve been the go-to-guy for anyone that was a friend, friend-of-a-friend or some stranger on the street when it comes to computer issues. So, in celebration of this fact, this little gem was born of my many years of tech support…

Digital Media System

Monday, August 17, 2009 | 5:49 PM

Well, the formerly named "Comic/Art System" has been renamed to a more apt descriptive one, "Digital Media System." For those that don't know what this system will be, here's a quick run-down.

It will allow for the posting of images, whether they be digital media, photos, SWF Movies, etc., in an online gallery style setup. You will be able to resize, crop, collate, layer, stylize, rotate, and much more, to these images to create different layouts that you wish. Now, one of the really cool things this system will do is the ability to basically make an online book. You'll be able to create multiple pages of these layouts. If you like, you could basically make an online comic book!

There will be limitation as to what this system can do and handle. i.e. You probably won't be able to create a 1,000 page book to publish. SMILEY Also, the graphic abilities will be limited. I plan on implementing some things, such as text bubbles/boxes, stroke, dropshadows, etc. but any advanced manipulations will most likely be out of the question.

Sadly, earlier this year I had a catastrophic harddrive failure and lost a good deal of the development code. Thankfully, I was able to recover a good deal of my work from backups and have been continuing development.

So, in terms of percentage, I'd would put the system at about 45% complete. The major reason for the lack of advancement would definitely be my having to basically recover and redo a large portion of the code after my harddrive failure.

Definitely keep an eye out and keep checking back regularly as I plan to try and have the system up and running by the end of the year. At that time, I will be issuing a request for testers to help work out any potential bugs that I may have missed.

Trickey's Trip to FanFaire 2009: Part Deux

Saturday, July 4, 2009 | 4:45 AM

Ok, sorry it's taken me a while to post. I had a horrible week. Apparently, I caught a nasty bug on the way home Monday and it lasted almost the entire week. Still have a bit of it sticking around, but I'm at about 95%.

Anyway, to the FanFaire business at hand!

So, I didn't take as many pics this year as I did last year, but I promise the video I have will be worth it. The video isn't of the best quality (thank the cheapo camcorder I have, didn't get to buy a better one), but you will be able to watch it an know what's there, I promise!

Anyway, here's the pics I have. Enjoy!

NOTE: I just realized I did NOT get as many pictures as I thought I did of the Epic Weapons! Gah! Trying to run two cameras at the same time, one for video and the other for pics, did not turn out good. I will try and get some of the videos that I have cleaned up and put up for streaming today, if possible.

I did get some good (relatively speaking) video of PotA-B, so I will try and get that up first. Check back soon!

Trickey's Trip to FanFaire 2009

Ok, well, unfortunately things didn't go quite as I had planned. I thought that there would be WiFi access in the main hall like there was last year, but, alas, there was not. So, I did not get to do any streaming, or posting for that matter, at this year's FanFaire. I did, however, get a lot of good photos, video and audio for posting. So, when I get all the video cleaned up, cut and put to some good music, I'll post it up. Also, I'll clean up the audio I have and post some it, too. I'll cut for sanity's sake because I've literally got hours of audio to go through.

So, in short, and for right now, FanFaire was a blast and I had tons of fun. We learned a lot of what is coming up and what to expect for the future of Vanguard. And, I will have to admit, I like the pink dragon, lol!

The progression of the little guy is actually quite neat. I've got some good video of the little guy (somewhere), I'll try and get that up pretty quickly. I'll explain it in short, if I can. Wyrmie (that's his name and you'll like it!) starts off as a little vanity pet. And when I say little, I mean little. He's shorter than a gnome, lol! Anyway. For every 10 levels that you progress from level 10, he will also grow. So, he starts off as a little guy at level 10 and and grows into the full, flying mount when you hit level 50. He is slower than the normal flying mounts, but he has hearts to make up for it. That's right, he has hearts. Plural. There are two little hearts on his hind thighs and one on his forehead. (You can thank Tiraslee for them.) Also, he leaves a neat little pink sparkly trail behind him as he flies! How awesome is that?!

Now, Silius and Tiraslee said that it would probably be a couple weeks before all those that registered/went to FanFaire will actually get this little guy because they are still working how the delivery system for him will work. Basically, they are deciding whether to use the /claim system or something else.

And, don't worry, I have TONS more to report and will do so with extras! So be sure to check and see the new stuff!
